What is the Sponsorship Program?

Child sponsorship is an opportunity to personally connect with a child, family, and community in need. You’ll walk alongside them as they work on lasting solutions to fight poverty and help vulnerable children to reach their full potential by giving them access to high-quality education.

The program aims to empower indigent and vulnerable children in Arusha to break out of intergenerational cycles of poverty through access to high-quality education services.
We will also provide them with supplementary development services to guide them to think critically, solve problems, and become good citizens and leaders that contribute to making the world a better place.

The children in this program are primarily graduates of our children’s center called Mother’s Mercy, but we do sponsor some children from other centers as well. Mother’s
Mercy provides children with preparatory education before they enroll in grade one. These children are from poor families and some are orphans or come from broken
families. Once they graduate pre-school from Mother’s Mercy the kids are set up for sponsorship so they can proceed with primary education at Blue Sky school.

Each child is matched with only one sponsor, although it is possible for groups of people
to collaborate to sponsor one child or a group of children.

Why sponsor a children with Selfless Solutions?

We believe the best way to positively change the life of a child is to empower them through education. The well-being of children is our focus and our work centers on improving the lives of children in need.

Selfless Solutions’ Sponsorship project is designed to meet the most pressing needs in a sponsored child’s community and all projects are regularly measured against these goals and objectives. Projects are designed to make sure that children are healthy and are receiving high-quality education.

Since we started this program in 2019, we now have a total of 65 children sponsored through us and our oldest child is now in grade 4 at Blue Sky primary school.

A Sponsored Child Receives:

1. A personal connection with someone who cares and the invaluable knowledge that they are special and loved.

2. A chance for a better life free from poverty.

3. A quality education and life-changing benefits, like medical care, life skills, and assistance with job placement after graduation.

4. Knowing that someone far away cares about them and their future will be a great encouragement for them.

You Should Become a Sponsor If:

1. You believe that all children should receive high-quality education regardless of where they are born or how wealthy their family is.

2. You want to make a direct and personal gift to empower a vulnerable child and their
family to change their future.

3. You want the donation you make to have a sustainable and lasting impact.

How Does The Program Work?

● 1 child + 1 sponsor; Each child in our sponsorship program is matched with one sponsor. You are the only sponsor for your sponsored child. They’re real children with real stories.
You can get to know your sponsored child through letters and photos, packages, and email. You can even visit your sponsored child and see how your donation is helping
transform their community.

● Child sponsorship is a long-term commitment until a child becomes self-sufficient. In many cases, children are sponsored until they finish school, reach the age of independence in their community and are able to support themselves.

● If you are only thinking of sponsoring a child for one year, a general donation is preferable.

Yearly donation support of $600.

Sponsorship fee structure

● For day students the school fee is $600 and $750 for boarding students

● When you sponsor a child, you can either pay annually or monthly

About Blue Sky School

Blue Sky is a primary school located in the Nambala Village of Arusha, Tanzania run by the Tanzania Human Development (TAHUDE) Foundation. When it was founded in January 2015, there were only 30 students. Now, Blue Sky has over 500 students divided among 14 classes. Many students come from local children’s centers like Mother’s Mercy, but the school also serves the children of the Nambala Village who could not receive a quality education before the school was started.

Blue Sky strives “to be a place of excellence where children can achieve their full potential and their full academic, creative, personal, physical and moral development”, as well as “a place of spiritual values where children learn respect for themselves and others.”

Besides a rigorous academic curriculum, Blue Sky also has music, art, computing, and health classes, as well as a special needs program for children with developmental disorders, a rarity in Tanzania.

Our Partnership

In Tanzania, the public education system is notoriously poor due to a combination of factors, such as a lack of skilled teachers, low funding, and overcrowding. If you want a quality education, you must pay for private schooling, but this is impossible for most families. At Selfless Solutions, we strongly believe that all children should have access to a quality education regardless of their ability to pay, so, in the fall of 2018, we committed to sending all Mother’s Mercy children to a private school.

After visiting numerous schools around Mother’s Mercy, we chose to send the children to Blue Sky because the school focuses on the development the whole child, not just on academic performance.
